Welcome, dear Vanessa. You’ve been with us for around six weeks now. How was your first time at HotelNetSolutions for you?
The first few weeks were very exciting and flew by. As I live in Leipzig and therefore work from home, I came to Berlin temporarily for the induction. The fact that I was able to get to know the team on site made it a lot easier to get started.
I’m glad to hear that. And where do you like it better – Berlin or Leipzig? 😉
I’m originally from Berlin, but have been living in Leipzig for 10 years. I’ve always wanted to leave Berlin because it’s just too big and too rough for me. My family comes from Swabia, Franconia and the Allgäu region – it’s simply warmer in the region and it’s the same here in Leipzig. Leipzig is also very modern and has a lot to offer in a small space. I don’t need an hour’s drive to see my friends here.😊
Let me guess: you have worked in a hotel in Leipzig?
Good advice😉 I did a classic apprenticeship as a hotel manager and moved to Leipzig after a stopover in Potsdam. I worked in a hotel there. At some point, I ended up in the interior design industry. However, I felt more comfortable in the hotel industry and then worked at Protel.
So you switched from the hotel to the furnishing industry to the software side. What excites you about your new job with us?
Yes, that’s how you could describe my path. For me, the new job is the perfect mix: a bit of the old familiar, a bit of something new. I have already had professional contact with some of my colleagues. So it’s not all quite so strange, but it’s still the breath of fresh air you want in your life.
And what tasks will you take on with us?
As a Project Manager in Support, I will take care of our customers’ inquiries. Everything from OnePagebooking, Channelmanager or RateMonitor will certainly be included. I’m also looking forward to giving customer training courses myself at some point and showing our hoteliers all the tricks of our systems.
I’m curious to know what your favorite tasks will be.😊 Now let’s move on to the particularly interesting part. What do we need to know about you outside of work?
I like to spend my free time with my husband, my almost three-year-old daughter, our two cats and our budgie. When the weather is good, I also spend time in our allotment garden.
So you like being in company. Do you have any other hobbies we should know about?
I like meeting friends – that counts as a hobby, doesn’t it? 😉Other than that, I like traveling in Germany, preferably in the mountains, or sometimes in the sun, for example to Greece. I also like to watch series and movies after work.
Do you have an insider tip for us? Which series or movie is a must-see?
There are so many series and movies these days. It all depends on your mood and, of course, your personal taste. But what movie is definitely always good for me, especially on bad days, is “Mary Poppins”.😉
