Michael, it’s great to have you here! Tell us a bit about where you come from and how you ended up in the hotel industry.
Oh, it’s been quite a colourful journey. I grew up in Bünde, a small town between Osnabrück and Bielefeld. After completing my vocational baccalaureate diploma, I trained as an electronics technician for industrial engineering and then wanted to start studying electronics and programming. But as life would have it, things turned out a little differently.
I was assigned to do my community service on the island of Norderney. I started working at a youth hostel there – first doing children’s entertainment and programme supervision, and then gradually taking on reception and reservations duties as well. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed there for 10 years and completed my studies in business administration and management on the side.
Later, I had the opportunity to open a new hotel on Norderney. I worked my way up to hotel manager, supervising 50 employees, overseeing two restaurants and managing a hotel with 70 rooms. But after five years, the island became too small for me and I wanted to take a step back again. So the opportunity at HotelNetSolutions came at just the right time.
What attracted you to joining HNS?
I am excited to see how the hotel software sector develops in the coming years. I love mastering new challenges, expanding my knowledge and exchanging ideas with other hotel professionals. I am also attracted by the idea of working completely remotely – I am curious to see how well I get on with myself in my home office.

What tasks will you take on with us?
I am starting as Project Manager Customer Support & Services. First, I will familiarise myself with the entire programme and hopefully solve a few problems. In the future, I look forward to training new customers and supporting our support team as best I can without annoying them too much.
And what about your private life? What do you like to do in your free time?
A lot has changed in recent years. After more than 18 years on Norderney, I am now looking forward to discovering the world. I use every free minute for excursions or short trips. Having just moved to Bremen, I enjoy exploring the city with our little dog.
My great passion is food: I love discovering restaurants and creative gastronomic concepts, but I also enjoy cooking myself and like to spoil my friends with culinary highlights – accompanied by the perfect wine, of course. I also really enjoy spending time with family, friends and colleagues.
We are delighted that Michael is now part of our team and would like to extend a warm welcome to him! Here’s to many exciting projects and lots of collaboration with Michael – it’s great to have you here!
